I’ve been a happy customer of Bartender but the recent upgrade notice reminded me that my needs are simple and I don’t really have a need to (pay to) upgrade to version 5. Instead I wrote a simple plugin for SwiftBar to do what I need - click to toggle visibility of menu bar icons. It turns out the trick to hide icons is a neat hack.
As a bonus, I’ve included the Caffeine replacement I wrote a few years ago.
