Open a URL in a specific Chrome Profile

Chrome uses profiles (users) to manage authentication.

I have some Google Sheets files that I regularly access in my person Google Drive account.

How can I send a URL for one of those files to Chrome and have it automatically open in the right user account?

Tools I have available include Choosy, KM, and AppleScript.

My Google Foo has only turned up this 4-year-old StackExchange post, and the structure of files they refer to doesn’t seem to exist anymore.

Any ideas?

Just low-key mentioning a few other options

  • OpenIn is another Choosy-style utility, in which you set up different browsers (including targeting Google Chrome profiles like this HowTo Geek article), then specify which URLs are directed to which browser - just reading your problem statement, the target URLs may not be different enough, unless you dial it right in to the document you are opening. It can also be used for other Mac file types like CSV - sometimes you want Excel, other times you want Visual Studio Code, etc.
  • Use Arc Browser, it has a concept of Air Traffic Control: Automate Your Link Routing – Arc Help Center, and each Profile can be targeted there too. Profiles are specific to a Google Chrome Profile, this could be another way to skin the cat (sorry to cats). More on Profiles here: Profiles: Separate Work & Personal Browsing – Arc Help Center
