Notification when someone edits a shared Google Doc?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to set up some sort of notification system when someone edits an existing Google Doc shared with me?

You could try this.

Heya!

I realize this is an older question but I was thinking this could help someone who’s scrolling the forum in the future.

You could easily do this with Integromat.

  1. First of all, you select the Google Docs ‘Watch Documents’ trigger module.

  1. Create a connection to your Google Docs accounts.
  2. Select whether you want to watch the documents by created date or by modified date.
  3. Choose the Drive where your Google Doc is stored.
  4. Select the folder in which the Google Doc you want to monitor is located.
  5. Set the maximum number of results to be returned within one run of the automation.

It depends on how you want to get notified about the changes, of course. Let’s say you’d like to receive a Slack message as a notification.

  1. Connect the ‘Create a Message’ Slack module.

  1. Create a connection to your Slack account.
  2. Select the channel type you want to send the notification to.
  3. Select the channel/user you want to send the notification to.
  4. Create the body of the notification message.
  5. Run the scenario once to see there are no errors.
  6. Schedule the scenario to run when you need it to.

  1. Slide the slider at the very left bottom corner to ‘ON’.

And you’re all set :four_leaf_clover:
