I’m trying to set a focus mode to an open a particular tab group when activated. The particular tab group is located in a secondary profile in Safari. It appears that for a focus mode, I can set a secondary profile OR a tab group in the primary profile, but not a tab group in the secondary profile. Is that right? Am I missing something? What can accomplish this?
I don’t think you are missing anything. The tab group selector (under the focus mode, in Shortcuts, etc.) only lists from the primary profile’s list of tab groups - even irrespective off your current profile selection.
I think your best option right now is to simply treat a particular profile like a tab group when you want to be able to automate a focus mode transition to it.
You could of course send feedback to Apple on this, but since WWDC is only 3 weeks away, it is worth waiting. There’s a non-zero chance it could be in the next version of iOS, and if it is not, then you could file feedback as part of the beta. I imagine it has more chance of being picked up if you wait than submitting something a few weeks before, as the devs are no doubt totally focused on trying to finalise dev beta 1 right now.
That’s kind of what I thought. I like the idea of creating a separate profile, however. That has some added advantages too, although it’s not what I want ultimately. It’s a decent compromise until choosing a tab group in a secondary profile is allowed. Thanks.
