Call friend shortcut

Does anyone know why this isn’t working? Or do les anyone have a different way to get this to work?

Putting in a number works for me.

This called my carrier voice mail.

Thanks. Now it’s working. I must have been doing something wrong. I tried doing it through contacts instead of typing the number.
